Disturbing photos of a lady who was allegedly beaten and stripped off her belongings by a Taxify driver in South Africa has circulated on the internet.
According to the sister of the victim, simply identified as MaDlams, her sister was fortunately saved by passersby who witnessed the assault.
@MaDlams narrated the incident on her Twitter page and shared photos of her severely beaten sister. The photos showed the victim whose eyes were bloated and bloodshot.
However, she did not mention the name of “her sister”. @MaDlams wrote,
“I’ve been holding onto this b/c I wasn’t going to do anything she’s uncomfortable with. This is my sister who was beaten by a @taxify_za driver on Sat afternoon. He also took her belongings. He continued until she was saved by people who saw what happened.”
Meanwhile, the photos have sparked outrage as friends and concerned Twitter users demanded that the Taxify company must answer to the unfortunate incident.
Others sighted similar precedents and encouraged her not to give up until the culprit is found.
However, Taxify South Africa has reacted to the news on her page and apologised for the unfortunate incident adding that they need vital information so as to begin an investigation.
“Hi Chantay, we are truly sorry to hear about your sister’s experience. Is she okay? Please DM the mobile number linked to her account and the drivers’ name or trip details. We would like to look into this as a matter of urgency and assist her further,” @taxify_za wrote.
