“I got a call from a patient who said she was on an MAO inhibitor for depression and had eaten a portion of aged cheese earlier in the evening,” Salber recalls.
“She was feeling a bit funny and wondered if she should come in to be checked.
"Recognizing a potentially very dangerous food reaction, we sent an ambulance but sadly, she had a hypertensive crisis and suffered a fatal stroke before they arrived.”
