news-today.world | A white University of Pennsylvania law school professor who said she has never seen a black student graduate in the top quarter of the class during her 17 years at the institution, has been removed from teaching a required first-year law course.
'I don't think I've ever seen a black student graduate in the top quarter of the class, and rarely, rarely in the top half,' tenured law professor Amy Wax said during an interview with Brown University economics professor Glenn Loury, which was recorded on September 10, 2017.
Penn Law school dean Ted Ruger announced on Tuesday that Wax will no longer be teaching required first-year law courses.
Ruger said through an email to students and faculty that was published by Philadelphia Magazine that Wax spoke 'disparagingly and inaccurately' about the performance of black students during the interview, which was centered on her view that there is a 'downside of affirmative action.'
