According to one official, no fewer than 50 prison inmates will be available for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation 2018 (UTME).
The director of the Ikoyi prison school, Mr. Idris Ibikunle, announced this on Thursday in Lagos. [19659003] He said the school prepared the inmates well for the investigation, as the facility's officials stepped up their efforts for excellence.
"At the moment we are preparing about 50 of the inmates for the next UTME After what I see, they are very determined to outdo each other.
" We still have to register them for the actual exam; We would like to give a little more space for other interested, so we can do the enrollment once.
"I am optimistic that we will take more than 50 of the inmates for the investigation," Ibikunle told NAN.
NAN recalls that 59 detainees were registered for UTME 2017 earlier this year, 35 of whom had published their findings and are in various stages of admission to tertiary education.
The director also said that 40 inmates would be prepared for the newly introduced 2018 January / February Diet of the West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates
According to him, the prison officials were required to ensure that the inmates had nothing to lose academically, despite their imprisonment.
