Wise, 72, of Chesapeake, made his initial appearance Friday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk on nine felonies relating to the fraudulent receipt of almost $129,000 in worker’s compensation money.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney David Layne declined to comment on the case, as did Wise’s public defender, Andrew Grindrod.
