Star Actor, Dele Odule is 40 years on stage and City People Media Group hosted the veteran actor.
The event took place at the new City People Event Centre, Gbagada which hosted really respected academicians as speakers. Dr. Tunde Azeez ( Department Of Theatre Arts, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti), Dr. Babafemi Babatope, (Department of Theatre Arts and Music, Lagos State University) as well as Veteran actors like Prince Jide Kosoko, Tunbosun Odunsi, Yomi Fash-Lanso
The event started off with an opening prayer and later, the celebrator, David Dele Odule stood to speak. He said he is not celebrating his 40 years on stage just for the fun of it but rather to bring back Stage Performance.
He also stressed that stage performance is a very important in acting. he further stressed that the lack of the performance only makes actors models.
Prof. Tunde Azeez speaks of the importance of Yoruba language in the movie industry. He says dialoguing with the right authorities to make the Yoruba movie actors have better results is important.
Arts belongs to the common man he says, Most filmmakers don’t have their master copy even in Ghana because these dialogue that needs to be done hasn’t been done.
Princess Latifah Momodu, Art collector was also present at the event and while speaking, she couldn’t hide her admiration for the veteran actor, Tunbosun Odunsi especially as his mastery of the English language was not known until now.
Suggestions were made concerning the need to do more for the successor generation as this will show those who could be better actors.
Later on, The Dele Odule’s Theatre Group gave some resounding performance and it was lovely to see.
Veteran Actor, Prince Jide Kosoko was present along side popular actor, Yomi Fash-Lanso.
Later on Dr. Babafemi Babatope, of the department of theatre Arts and music, Lagos state University also delivered a lecture and he made sure to shower accolades on Dele Odule’s quality performances over time. He stressed that there’s a need for the academicians to join forces with the practitioners to make a landmark achievement for a well laid legacy in the industry.
